Sweet & Tangy BBQ Sauce
This sauce is truly 'homemade' and so easy to make! Next time you make pulled pork, ditch the bottled BBQ sauce and make your own. All you need are a few simple ingredients and the drippings from the meat. I created this Sweet & Tangy BBQ Sauce recipe using a 2-3 pound boneless pork butt, so if you are cooking a larger piece of pork, you will have to double or triple the ingredients.
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup ketchup
1 cup drippings from your pork (skim fat from top and discard)
1 Tbsp molasses
1 Tbsp brown sugar
2 Tbsp Sweet & Smoky BBQ Rub
1 Tbsp cornstarch dissolved in 1 Tbsp water
Start by pouring the remaining liquid from your cooked pork into a glass measuring cup. Discard the fat from the top and take 1 cup of the drippings and place into a saucepan. Add the molasses, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar and Sweet & Smoky BBQ rub and whisk together. Bring to a simmer and then add the cornstarch dissolved in water. Continue to simmer for a few minutes until sauce thickens. And there you have it! Delicious, homemade Sweet & Tangy BBQ Sauce for your pulled pork.
